Polkadot's Key Metrics

Explore the core statistics that define the health, growth, and decentralization of the Polkadot ecosystem. From governance participation and treasury funds to staking security and network performance, these metrics offer a real-time snapshot of how the network is evolving and how the community is engaging.

Network Performance & Infrastructure

173

Nakamoto Coefficient

100%

30-Day Uptime

623k+

Max TPS

Nakamoto Coefficient

The Nakamoto Coefficient represents the number of independent entities needed to control more than one-third of all stake on a network — a key metric for decentralization. Polkadot’s Nakamoto Coefficient reflects a significantly more decentralized validator set compared to most other Proof-of-Stake networks.

Network Uptime

The percentage of time a blockchain is fully operational — actively producing blocks and processing transactions without interruption. Measured with a 60-second threshold, Polkadot consistently achieves near-perfect uptime.

Max TPS

TPS measures how many transactions a blockchain network can process in one second — a key indicator of performance and scalability. Higher TPS means the network can handle more activity without slowing down or getting congested. During the live community “Spammening” event, Polkadot’s canary network Kusama reached a peak of 143,343 TPS, using just 23% of available cores. At full capacity, this translates to a theoretical max of 623,230 TPS — showcasing Polkadot’s high-performance potential.

Ecosystem & Adoption

17.8 million

Unique Accounts

1.5 million

DAO Members

300+

Projects Building on Polkadot

Unique Wallets

The total number of wallet addresses (accounts) holding a non-zero balance on the Polkadot Relay Chain and/or Polkadot Rollups (i.e., parachains).

DAO Members

The total number of wallet addresses (accounts) holding DOT on the Polkadot Relay Chain and/or Polkadot Rollups (i.e, parachains), excluding any users who hold DOT on centralized exchanges (CEXs).

Projects building on Polkadot

The number of projects known to be actively building within the Polkadot ecosystem — including rollups (i.e, parachains), dApps, bridges, wallets, and more.

Staking & Security

804.9 million

DOT Currently Staked

50%

Total DOT Supply Staked

65,290

Total Stakers

DOT Currently Staked

The total amount of DOT tokens actively staked on Polkadot’s Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) system. DOT can be staked directly through nomination or via nomination pools. Stakers help secure the network and receive staking rewards in return.

Total DOT Supply Staked

The percentage of the total DOT supply that is currently staked on the network. This represents how much of all existing DOT is actively securing Polkadot through staking.

Total Number of Stakers

The total number of accounts currently staking DOT, either by directly nominating validators or by participating in nomination pools. Direct nomination currently requires a minimum of 250 DOT, while pools allow users to stake with a smaller amount.

Treasury & Governance

$55 million

Polkadot Treasury Funds

985

Approved Community Referenda

13,113

Avg. Monthly Governance Voters

Polkadot Treasury Funds

The combined amount of DOT, USDC, and USDT held in the Polkadot Treasury and the Polkadot Asset Hub Treasury. These funds are community-controlled and used to support ecosystem growth and development.

Approved Community Referenda

The total number of proposals approved through Polkadot’s OpenGov system. These referenda have successfully met both the approval and support thresholds during the required confirmation period. This count excludes any proposals approved prior to the launch of OpenGov.

Average Monthly Governance Voters

The total number of wallet addresses (accounts) that have participated in Polkadot OpenGov referenda, either by voting directly or by delegating their voting power.
